Tiiiiiiiiight, bro!

Saw the comment where you elaborated on your tools. I still have the problem where when I use harder leads I still want to press down hard or go over the lines a couple times to make them more visible to the eyes. This leads to un-erasable results when going for the final lines, which in turn leads to pretty worn-out paper. I'd figure it's practice but I've been at it for two years now and, to me, I feel I'm doing something wrong.

Do you have a magic potion that could help remedy this? ;)

You've described the problem. The answer is don't bare down on the pencil so hard. You're relying on your wrist to carry a lot of the weight so it translates right into the tips of your fingers. Keep your arm in a nice steady motion from your elbow down to your hands. Your back is where you'll take a lot of the pressure. To summarize, don't put all your weight on your wrist ;) & Sketch often, understand the shapes, don't try to draw the cool stuff yet without knowing fundamentals. Build on that and you'll be off to the races.

You're quite right! After a couple of hours of non-stop practices my back does start to ache. I try to be more relaxed while drawing too but since I've done SO many practices I feel the need to draw fast all the time and my art suffers a great deal from that now. Thanks for your comment, I'll be off to the chamber of understanding for now and see if I can reforge these habits I unwillingly created! ;)

:) Just take your time, there's no need to rush and have FUN illustrating, that's the reason you're doing after all.

I wanted to tell you I've been practicing this for a month now and it starts to bear fruit now! Thank you very much for rediscovering the joy of drawing. I guess I got lost in the ''gotta get good'' mood!

Amazing to consider how strong she is yet not quite bullet-proof!

Great piece here, man.
