@00:24The new Sharpies are Archival safe, it says it right on the packaging. The older Sharpie brands did cause those horrible effects but the new ones shouldn't. Also use them on Archival safe Card Stock Paper and you should be fine ;)

@04:12Very nice. I'm just starting to go through your videos.

So, then, you don't use quill and brush at all? This is all I use.

Still, it is good to finally see how it is done. Your explanations are very good.

@00:24I got yelled at for using those sharpies by a teacher and my friend who's a pro illustrator. They both told me that the black turns red and fades over time. Were they just yanking my chain or what?

@04:12I'm glad that you've been able to make some more tutorials - short of hanging over your table/shoulder at some convention while you draw, this is the next best thing! (And not nearly so invasive.) Thanks so much!

I tend to not sketch out my drawings enough, instead going to tighter lines before the piece is really ready for it...time to break out my l'il sketchbook and start practicing again. ^^ Ain't no such thing as too much practice!

@04:12Thanks for this Steven, would love to see more. Particularly I would really like to see you work with the inking more. Maybe do a whole section. And I'd love to hear you talk and show how you decide what gets spot blacks and how you decide and go about that process.

It's a mystery to me, and everything I try seems to end up like mud.

@04:12I was just wondering... you said you were going to talk about light sources and you said it can be a pain in the ass for some people but it is necessary. You did some shading but you did not really talk about it much. I am not sure what to take with me on that point. It is one of the things that is really a pain for me to do.

@04:12I've noticed that when you ink, you do small "shetchy" type lines, do you find this comes out neater than say one fluid sweeping line?

Plus I can't imagine how you keep a pencil so long, I buy one and it is lost by the next week! :)

The worst is when you look for the pencil for ten to fifteen minutes, only to find it tucked safely behind your ear!

Or when you go to the kitchen or bathroom and left it on the counter and that is the LAST place you think to look... OR you give up and use a different one only to find a few hours or days later that you left it in a EASY to find place thinking "Ill put it here so I dont lose it." then you forgot were you put it. LOL
